2008 Buffalo AFL-CIO Labor Picnic
Updated On: Sep 29, 2009
2008 Buffalo AFL-CIO Labor Picnic

It was the perfect day for a picnic. Clear skies and warm weather set the stage for the annual Buffalo AFL-CIO 2008 Labor Picnic. A large crowd of both active and retired union members were in attendance along with many local politicians and friends of organized labor.

Several incumbent candidates for the New York State Senate and Assembly were in attendance showing their support and talking with guests. Candidates for Erie County District Attorney and other local races were there as well. Some friends from the Erie Country legislature came out along with Mike LoCurto, Councilmember from the City of Buffalo. Jon Powers, the New York State AFL-CIO endorsed candidate for the 26th Congressional District was also talking with the picnic goers.

The famous Labor Council picnic menu including Polish Sausage, Italian Sausage with peppers and onions, barbequed hamburgers, Roast Beef on Weck, along with hot dogs, hamburgers and all the fixings’ was enjoyed by all. Many attendees commented how sweet and delicious this year’s corn on the cob was. Our guests came hungry and left full as we began to run low towards the end of the day. Water, soda pop and Beer kept the crowd hydrated and happy.

The Silent Auction again drew great interest. The raffles included a 26” HD Flat Panel TV from Collins and Maxwell, A table-top propane grill, iPod, Garmin Nuvi GPS, portable and home DVD player, gift cards, certificates and much more. We will be posting a complete list of the winners along with the names of our prize donors.

This years “Door Prize” of a 32” HD Flat Panel TV was donated Jan Borman and Tom Campbell of Campbell and Associates and www.WNYLaborToday.com. We thank them and all of our generous donors for helping to make this year’s picnic a tremendous success.
